Joel Klenck v. Liberty University, et al.

This is a case about an archaeologist and maritime shipping executive, Joel David Klenck, who performed a survey of Noah’s Ark, a monumental archaeological structure, dating to the Late Epipaleolithic Period (13,100 to 9,600 BC), located in the southern gorge of greater Mount Ararat, accessed by passages descending 4 to 11 meters under the surface of the gorge. Upon confirming the authenticity of the ancient maritime barge, noted in the Bible (Genesis 5-10) and Quran (Surah 3, 7, 11, 17, 26, 37), giving lectures about the site in archaeology and anthropology conferences, and publishing his research, he became the target of a doxing campaign to destroy him. The primary focus of the case is defamation, for which the ultimate defense for the defendants is to establish the truth of the defamatory remarks. Klenck asserts the detractors of Noah’s Ark are committing a cultural atrocity and are associated with terrorism, murder, and unethical behavior. Klenck and others are trying to protect, preserve, and facilitate research at Noah’s Ark, a religious shrine to three world religious: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, and the most important archaeological site in history, the progenitor site for the Neolithic or farming revolution.
